Lazers U9-U12 Select Program Information
The Peachtree City Lazers U9-U12 Select program is designed to help players between U9 and U12 players who are interested an extra challenge in order to develop the ingredients they will need to succeed in soccer at the highest level. We have developed our U9-U12 program as a way to provide our young players with the opportunity to receive more focused professional training from our qualified staff coaches. It is the U9-U12 Select Program’s primary aim to keep soccer fun so that the vital ingredient of enjoyment is achieved at all times, while simultaneously preparing players for the older select ages, U13-U19.
At the U9-U12 Select Program level, players will be grouped into teams to play in games against teams from other area programs. The selection process will be guided by player’s attitude towards the staff and fellow players and by performance in all games and practices. This will be decided at the coach’s discretion and can change from practice to practice. It is club’s aim to have all players who graduate from our U9-U12 Select Program be ready to play at a level where they are competent and composed with the technical element of the game, and understand the basic mechanics of how a soccer team operates on the field in a competitive environment.

We recommend that players attend at least two of the tryout/evaluation days to help the staff identify player’s existing skill levels, strengths, and needs going into the fall season.
Training Schedule and Training Priorities All U9-U12 Select teams train twice a week with sessions running for one and a half hours. These teams will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Coaching and Lazers Staff Coaches. The emphasis in training will be on the technical development of the players. This will be accomplished by a maximum number of touches on the ball, getting players comfortable with the ball at their feet, the encouragement of players to be creative and take players on, a development of a passion for the game through a fun training environment, and age appropriate tactical knowledge.
Game Schedules Games are organized by the Lazers Staff against other club teams predominantly from the Metro Atlanta area. Players will be assigned to teams from their age group pool. Generally teams play one game per week, although occasionally players may be asked to play twice at the same location.

How the teams will be formed? Plan A: Ideally, we would like to have 29 players at each level on a total of two teams. The first team would consist of the GYSA mandated roster minimum of 11-12 players who consist of the “A” level players in the age group. The other 17-18 players would consist of the “B” level players and would be placed on the second team.
This would allow a free movement of players from the second team to the first team on a week-to-week basis to reward those players who have excelled in training and games, as dictated by the age group coach. In turn, each team would roster 14-15 players for each week’s games. It will be the coach’s discretion to move players permanently as he or she desires during the course of the season.
Plan B: For those age groups in which the Lazers do not possess 29 players in an age group, Lazers will look to fill one strong team of 15-17 players (depending on dynamics and needs of team) in that particular age group.
Training Schedule and Training Priorities All U13-U19 Select teams train three times a week with sessions running for one and a half hours. These teams will be under the direct supervision of an assigned staff coach and the Director of Coaching. The emphasis in training will be on S.P.I.T.
Game Schedules Games are organized by the state and can take place anywhere in the state of Georgia. However, games are predominantly in the Metro Atlanta area.
